Foundations

Our Quality Assurance Surveying Unit uses:

  • Trimble GPS for site localization and to assist with/check excavation depths and widths for footings.
  • Trimble total station to create a "tight" control network (a group of points that have precise coordinates and become the basis for all subsequent measurements performed during a project) and to perform high accuracy layout such as for anchor bolts and foundation walls.
  • Trimble digital level to measure precise elevation data such as column setting plate elevations or to transfer accurate benchmarks across a project.
  • The foreman each have a robotic total station for their crew (either Trimble or Topcon) and can perform much of their own layout once a benchmark and control network/offsets are established which eliminate down time and errors.
  • The software programs used for foundation layout are AutoCAD and Civil3D, both produced by the industry leading CAD software developer Autodesk.

If foundation excavation work is delayed, we can keep our portion of the project on schedule using our own excavating equipment. NOT to take the place of your excavator subcontractor, but if the need arises, we can support the concrete scope of work with our equipment: CAT bulldozers, backhoes, and hydraulic excavator.
